John and Teddy Kohli

Azalea Chapter members John Kohli and his wife Teddy DuMont moved from Forsyth County, GA to the outskirts of Dahlonega in Lumpkin County in 2005. They downsized their garden from 27 acres to a lot of 2 acres and moved over 1,000 azaleas and rhododendrons from Forsyth County. They also moved hundreds of irises, daylilies, and hostas. Many of the large rocks came from their old property but many more tons were brought in from a construction site. John brought in and moved around 300 tons of rock. John loves both native and evergreen azaleas, whether it be propagation, landscaping, or exploring. John has produced his own evergreen hybrids and is working on deciduous hybrids.
